“Thank’s for holding, apparently we had a leak
in the factory roof and some of your ***custom*** cabinets were affected”I don’t understand and probably never will how importing a pre-made cabinet box, adding a door and using fillers to make them fit during the installation can be called “custom cabinets.”
OK let’s take a poll, how many of homeowners who have purchased their homes within the last 15 years are happy with the quality of their kitchen cabinets?
8 out of 10? 5 out of 10? Well I find it’s about 1 out of 10 .
Most don’t complain about the look of their cabinets, they complain about the layout, the functionality, the doors don’t line up, and especially the mass produced quality! With home builders the cheapest option usually wins the bid and becomes the “golden (cabinet) child” of choice.
***Custom*** to most clients means building something for them specifically,
not customizing something that already exists to make it work.
Recently a San Marcos client who contracted C & L for his custom cabinets asked me why his kitchen shelves all were bowing, so given the opportunity I helped educate him as to the difference between a melamine product and a wood product. I helped him understand the difference between a Face Frame cabinet and a frameless one.
We find that educating our clients, even if they don’t choose C and L for their project helps the industry as a whole. Remember as in anything, knowledge is power and having this power helps you determine the right choice for your needs. I am not saying these import cabinets don’t serve a purpose, what I’m saying is, you should be told your boxes are from Mainland China and not find out on a “60 Minutes” special.
