In all my years in this industry I have taken time to meet my client,
not the one that called because they were in need of a custom cabinet,
the client behind that client.
In a quaint little part of Temecula, as I walked into a new clients house I noticed a Baby Grand Piano with a bust of Dean Martin sitting on top. I have seen busts of Mozart and Bach but never such a highlighted area for Dean. As I walked through there front area I asked, why a bust of Dean Martin, well the gentleman had a great story behind it. Turns out his father was a contract songwriter for a Hollywood Studio in the forties and fifties. According my client, the studio needed a song to fill a segment of a Dean Martin movie, he needed to have a song within 24 hours to keep the picture on schedule. Well his rough draft for this song turned into “That’s Amore”, but as a contract writer he was never credited and the credit went to the song’s final arrangers. He did take me in his office to the hidden safe, and let me hold his Babe Ruth signed ball.
Traveling to Malibu for an unknown client, at least unknown to me. This day I had the opportunity to design for a National League Baseball Superstar. I am a Dodger fan, and have been for over 50 years, but even the chance to hold the Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Award kind of made me stray from my Dodger Loyalty, but just for a moment!
In a Murrieta California neighborhood I arrived for an evening appointment, the owned ask if I’d like to meet their pet. I am a true animal lover, “of course bring him out”. They assured me that “Peter”, their pet Wolf was just a Lamb in Wolves…. well you know.
Turned out he took a liking to me. Maybe it was because I wasn’t wearing “RED”.
Back in Temecula for a recent appointment, I was treated to the Wild Kingdom of Reptiles. They had the most unique and truly breathtaking home habitats for these “pets”. I didn’t stay in the bedroom long enough to take a self’eee with their FIVE foot Monitor Lizard, but I did stop for a moment with their pet Crow and the home’s entrance, and exit. They are being installed next month, our install team is in for a treat.
